My Review Policies

 

 Maybe we should go over this first. I'm not a picky reader, but I do have some policies regarding which books I'll review and which I won't. In that case, we won't have any problems, shall we?

Please keep in mind that now I am OPEN to review requests, which might change.

My reviews WILL contain spoilers.

1. Accepted Formats: 

I prefer physical copies (hardcover or paperback) of books compared to others. E-book versions are accepted but only in PDF formats that can be easily accessible with the help of Adobe Acrobat Reader or on a reader via phone. Even if E-Book versions are available, please make sure that you send digital copies ONLY when you're not able to send me a physical copy.

Please keep in mind that any other e-book format will NOT be accepted. 

I will NOT accept any other formats for books, including audiobooks.

I do accept Advanced Reader Copies, preferably 4 months from release or more.

2. Country of Living:

Since I'm accepting physical copies, I'd like to inform you that I'm not a resident of the USA.

I'm a resident of West Bengal, India, Asia.

My home address will be revealed to the parties concerned via emails.

3. Time I'll Be Taking To Finish The Book:

It would actually depend on the book itself. It might take me one day to finish a book or it might take me two weeks, which I would correspondingly inform via email or Instagram DMs. But the average time I'll take to finish a book is one week.

If it takes me more than 2 weeks, once again, I'll inform.

4. Sites I'll Be Reviewing The Book On:

For now, the only places I'll be adding my reviews would be my blog site and Instagram.

5. Genres I will Accept [a.k.a things I will read]

a. Young Adult:

– contemporary/realistic YA

– dystopian YA

– YA science fiction 

– YA mystery

– YA fantasy

– YA historical fiction

– contemporary/realistic YA

– LBTQIA+

b. Adult

– LBTQIA+

- literary fiction

– “chick-lit” or women’s fiction

– romance 

– mystery/thriller

-historical fiction 

6. Genres I Will NOT Read [a.k.a things I won't Accept]:

a. Non Fiction:

I do not read and neither do I accept non fiction novels. Non-fiction does not tend to arouse interest in me and if I read something that does not interest me, I will NOT review it. And even if I do, it would end up in a wrong review.

b. Poetry:

I am pretty selective when it comes to poetry.  But since poetry takes a lot of time to review and a lot of understanding, which, in my case is a pretty difficult thing sometimes, I am not accepting any poetry requests.

c. Fiction:

Even though the books that will be reviewed on my site are fiction, the genres that I won't read are horror and erotica. I don't mind a random erotic scene in a romance book, which is often unavoidable, but if it offers erotica as a main genre, I will not be accepting it.

7.  What You Should Include In Your Request To Make It Easier For The Both of Us:

- the summary

- the release date

- if you have a specific time frame within which you will be needing the book to be reviewed as my decision will be greatly influenced by it and I will have to see if I can commit to it in my timeline.

- Any other relevant information.

8. What Happens If:

a. I accept the book for reviewing:

Before sending me a review request please understand that by accepting or receiving a book, I do not guarantee that it will be read immediately or posted on the blog immediately.  I’ve got an ever growing stack of books that I want to read and a pretty busy life as well as the fact that I’m very much a mood reader. I will try my very best to read and review in a timely manner but it’s not always doable.
If the book is an ARC, I will try and publish the review on or around the release date and not before. I MAY do a Save the Date for it, in addition, if I really enjoyed it.
I also reserve the right to NOT post a review of your book should I not feel comfortable doing so. This could be because I’ve run out of time, didn’t really have anything to say about it, etc.

b. I do not enjoy your book:

All of my reviews will be my honest opinion and it is quite possibly that I won’t enjoy your book and my review will be clear of that.  Please understand that I will not write a glowing review just because you sent me the book. Not my style, sorry. If you are not okay with the fact that a negative review could be written, I might not be a good fit to send a review request to. I spend time reading a book and I feel like I reserve the right to talk about that experience — even if it is negative. By sending a review request to me, you are acknowledging that a review may be negative, albeit respectful, and I would appreciate that your response to my review be gracious and not attacking (I hate that I have to say this but it’s happened before where an author takes issue with a review).

9. Other Than Reviews:

a. I am also open to:

– author interviews: typically I only interview authors that I’m familiar with.

– blog tours: Like with giveaways, I have to have interest in the book being promoted or have enjoyed it. I only do blog tours with interesting, exclusive content. I want the content to be valuable to my reader and not something copy and pasted from blog to blog.

– exclusive cover reveals: With this, it has to be for an author I’ve read or a book I’m excited about. I say exclusive because I do not want to be one of 100 bloggers revealing on the same day

– guest blogging: I am interested in guest blogging on OTHER blogs and I will accept guest bloggers with topics I am interested in and that are relevant to my site.

b. I am NOT open to:

– promo blitzes

– cover reveals that aren’t exclusive

– anything spammy

– posting about your book when I have not read it

– guest blogging that is not relevant to my site.
