Review: All That's Left In The World

The fact that I don't have school anymore and that I don't have to worry about college until July or something or perhaps August. Point is, I'm free as fuck and can read as much as I want without anyone telling me anything because I owe no one nothing. WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

When Andrew stumbles upon Jamie's house, he's injured, starved, and has nothing left to lose. A deadly pathogen has killed off most of the world's population, including everyone both boys have ever loved. And if this new world has taught them anything, it's to be scared of what other desperate people will do . . . so why does it seem so easy for them to trust each other?

After danger breaches their shelter, they flee south in search of civilization. But something isn't adding up about Andrew's story, and it could cost them everything. And Jamie has a secret, too. He's starting to feel something more than friendship for Andrew, adding another layer of fear and confusion to an already tumultuous journey.

The road ahead of them is long, and to survive, they'll have to shed their secrets, face the consequences of their actions, and find the courage to fight for the future they desire, together. Only one thing feels certain: all that's left in their world is the undeniable pull they have toward each other.

WHAT DID I FEEL ABOUT THE  BOOK'S:

1. Writing Quality: To be honest, I am not a fan of multiple POVs. I have made it clear multiple times that I do not enjoy it. But dual POV and first person narration is something I really adore in novels because you can really see the adoration and yearning from both the sides and I think it's the cutest thing ever. I kind of got "The Host" by Stephanie Meyer vibes when I read this book. I know I don't like Twilight but The Host is really one of the best books that she has ever written and I think that it was written pre-Twilight. Really feel like that book should have gotten more recognition and a better effort should have been made for the movie. The movie was shitty. Like really shitty, I feel sad for it. But yeah, the vibes from this book reminded me a lot of that book. Except that this book was better, and didn't have aliens invading from space. Yeah.

2. Worldbuilding: I really do like the post-apocalyptic environment that's going around here, like every one for their own. And I was really happy to see that this book actually mentions COVID-19, even though it's only once. The thing is I was just glad that this book actually acknowledged COVID-19 and did not skate around it like Yuri on Ice [If you haven't watched the anime, go watch it because Viktor Nikiforov is one delicious man]. I mean, most books around 2020-ish time that I have read usually avoid the COVID-19 thingy like it never existed. And I kind of like the fact that it's a speculative fiction sort of thing. Where things get worse after a new virus emerges after COVID after everyone's possibly weakened by it. I guess I could call this book a type of speculative fiction as well? And also I kept imagining vast wild lands and deserts as Jamie and Andrew went their way around times.

Also Viktor the delicious man.

3. Character Development: Jamison and Andrew. Jamie and Andrew. Both adorable boys and I would love to give them a hug for all that they've endured. I'm still in the post COVID times and I really hope that the bug doesn't come here LMAO [it's a joke, don't come after me]. But I think that both boys are off the bat intelligent, Andrew more so than Jamie because Jamie was prepared by his mother who had caught wind of the situation but Andrew was out there all alone when he lost all of his family. And walking the whole distance while trying to survive and being 16 is a huge thing. Because being the whiny tiny grimey lad that I am, I would have probably given up and wished for the virus to take me away because I hate sweating and working hard [ a bit dark, but surviving]. Jamie too though, I can barely imagine what its like living on after everyone you know has died and you're immune and yet you can't do shit but keep fort. Andrew and Jamie had it tough. Like really tough. Cara, even though she appeared late, I gotta really give it to her for her instincts and her ability to remember roads and maps. That's a really wonderful and useful gift.

4. Couldn't put it down- Ness: 8/10, I really love it.

5. Plot: I couldn't really figure out the plot, but I guess one could say that the plot was finding sanctuary with each other and finding other people in the world with the same situation as they are I guess. There isn't much to figure out about the plot and it is kind of guessable as to what is about to happen. I guess it would suffice to say that the plot is really predictable.

OVERALL, A NICE READ, they gotta make more books like this.
