Review: Winterwood
Yes, I'm so loving that I ended up writing a second blog of the day. And also because my blogs were taking a lot of time during the day which I could spend during reading. Huh. I love you guys too much to be rude to y'all and deprive you guys of my wonderous reviews. Yes, I'm narcissistic and you signed up for it the moment you entered this blog.
Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw follows the story of Nora Walker. From the beginning of time, the Walker family has been called the family of witches, living nearby the Wicker Woods, never leaving during the winter. Nora Walker is just the same, living alone in the woods, staying far away from folks and taking care of the woods. But one fateful day, a boy disappears during a storm and the next day Nora finds him in the woods. But apparently, this boy has some secrets to hide.
QUICK THOUGHTS AND REVIEW: 3.2/5, IT STARTED OFF WELL BUT FLAAAAAAAAAT LIKE OIKAWA'S ASS.
PROS:
1. Vibe: The vibe's like really mysterious af? I kind of dig that.
2. Bite sized chapters: The chapters were really small which is kind of interesting because most books happen to have longer chapters. Sometimes that long chapter thing kind of drags which I don't like at all, so it's kind of a relief to me.
3. I finished it in one sitting, it's always a pro if I finish it in one sitting.
4. The dual POV: I personally enjoy the concept of Dual POV even though I hate the concept of multiple POVs. Multiple POVs are a freaking hassle when you're writing a book and if you don't write it well, it does come off as weird, boring and monotonous. So I quite enjoyed it.
5. The plot twist at the end though. 👀
CONS:
1. Development: I really didn't quite understand the development between Oliver and Nora. Like, they're kids who just met each other? I mean, Oliver used to just sleep over there and I really don't get the point of just them having a romantic relationship. Besides these two. I don't see any development. I don't see a spark of the past or something that would give off more of the story? It was just a narrative history book with mystery vibes.
2. The ending fell flat af: Like, seriously, it took me a good while to decipher the meaning of it and it felt quite anti-climatic? I mean, I understood the ending, it meant a second chance so it was kind of good? But I think I would have wanted more.
