Review: Once Upon a Broken Heart

 

Sometimes I feel like I spoil you guys too much. There are literally like 3 folks that read my blog regularly, and others are just passing by. One day, I'll disappear off the face of the internet and you'll be BEGGING me to write more blogs. BEGGING, I SAY. Smh, I shouldn't spoil you guys at all.

Once Upon a Broken Heart,  by Stephanie Garber tells us the story of Evangeline Fox, whose heart had been broken by the one she had fallen in love with when her loved one announces his wedding with her step sister Marisol. Desperate times calling for desperate measures, Evangeline decides to make a deal with the Prince of Hearts in return for three kisses. But everyone knows whoever has kissed the Prince of Hearts has died and after the first kiss, it seems like the Prince of Hearts has something else planned after all.

QUICK THOUGHTS AND REVIEW: 4.5/5, I NEED THE SECOND BOOK NOWWWWWWWWWWW.

PROS:

1. EVANGELINE FOX YOU DUMB BITCH.

2. Plot: I really like the deal with the devil stories. Because one way or the other, either one of those dumb bitches fall in love. Even though this was a freaking slowburn it was so clear that Jacks was in LOVE with Evangeline. Just give him the googly eyes already because that's what he lacks. The way he says I'm the worst but then he ends up saving her. We stan a man like that.

3. JACKS YOU PETTY BASTARD.

4. The worldbuilding. One of my friends had said that Stephanie Garber does worldbuilding really well, and needless to say, I ain't disappointed because I love it. I FREAKING LOVE IT. I'll die for LaLa. Imagine killing people with your tears, peak girlboss move.

5. I should have done this as soon as I was done with the book but I'm a dumbass, I'm literally writing this 10 hours after I finished the book. I don't even remember most of the points that I had liked about this book.

CONS:

1. The ending: As much as the story ended on a cliffhanger and made me want the second book, I am not quite satisfied with it. It felt rather anti-climatic compared to other books which have cliffhangers. It was like the adrenaline building up and then it went wheeeeeeeeeeeee where it all just fizzed out and I was not at all satisfied. 

MOST FAVOURITE CHARACTER:

Jacks.

I mean, how can he not? He's the perfect definition of a petty bastard. And I feel like he has more personality than anyone else in the story. I feel like if someone calls him pretty boy sarcastically he'll be like Call me pretty boy again, I'm gonna be the prettiest boy you've ever seen . Oh freaking hell. I wish he was so real, Fuck. I want him more than I want to eat pizzas at 3 am and that's saying something. And then there's stupid Evangeline who keeps on doubting him. EVANGELINE FOX YOU DUMBFUCK.

OVERALL, A NICE READ, I really liked the worldbuilding.
