Review: Made in Korea

Let's be honest, by this time I think every single one of you knows that I am a petty little shit that will do whatever my ADHD commands me to do. At this point I don't even know why I'm explaining myself. But then again, meh, there was this reading challenge and I was like you know what, let's get this shit done.

Made In Korea by Sarah Suk follows Val, the owner of V&C K-beauty products, who dreams of taking her Halmeoni to Paris, and Wes, the new guy, who begins to sell limited edition K-pop merch to get into his favourite music school.  From all-or-nothing bets to spies, these two try their best to win, while this undeniable spark grows between them.

QUICK THOUGHTS AND REVIEW: 3.7/5, a pretty nice read, but I think that's it.

PROS:

1.  Cute story: I don't think that I have said this before, but I found the story quite cute. I don't think a reason is mentioned as to why Valerie does not like to interact with people, it would have actually made the story cuter, but otherwise it made me smile because I found their dynamic so cute.  We need more cute stories like this yo.

2. Characters: This point is a must in all of the books I've reviewed before. Good characters are a must to keep the story going. The fact that Wes is not just a pushover and the fact that Valerie is not just a businesswoman makes sure that these characters are not one dimensional and that is what makes this good. Pauline and Charlie helping these two was also amazing. I even liked Taemin, though I wanted to yeet him off the cliff like Hera yeeted Hephaestus.

3. Maturity: I think this would fall under characters too but I just wanted to make this clear once again. I liked how the characters matured. Even though they were dumbasses to do it themselves and had to be helped by Pauline and Charlie to actually get real with themselves and their feelings for one another, the change was pretty nice.

4. I kinda felt Valerie as she kept being compared to Samantha. The sibling rivalry was roo rivalry.

CONS:

1. There wasn't anything bad in the book that I didn't like. It just lacked the spark that one would usually seek in a book. It was an easy, fast-paced read, and very relaxed but it just failed to do something in me. Maybe because I was actually expecting something heavy and in return it was only a light detox? And I think I couldn't make out whether the story was actually plot driven or character driven. It did seem Character driven at first but then the scales kinda tipped to plot driven.

2. Multiple POV's. I just don't like them. It's just not my taste.

OVERALL, AN OKAY READ, it's something if you want to have a good relaxed time.
