Review: Kingdom of the Wicked Series
You know, when I first started this series, I went like, what's the worst that could happen? Emotional damage? HAH, joke's on you I'm already emotionally damaged. BUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuutttttttttttttttt, (insert peach emoji here), once again, I was wrong. I DID end up getting emotionally damaged like WTF!! YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO DO THAT TO ME!!!! NANII-KOREEEEEEEEEEEEE!?
1. Book One: Kingdom of The Wicked.
For real though, holy fuck. HOLY FUCK. HOLY FUCKING SHIT. HOLY MOTHERFUCKING FUCKERY OF FUCK. WHAT IN THE FRICKING WORLD WAS THAT? LIKE DAMN.
The first book follows the story of twins Emilia and Vittoria, twin sisters born in the witch family of di Carlo. Vittoria is the more outgoing type while Emilia prefers to stay at home, reading a steamy romance novel while helping her family restaurant. But one night, Vittoria is murdered and her heart ripped out of her chest. In an attempt to follow her sister's footsteps to find her murderer, Emilia accidentally summons Wrath, one of the seven princes of hell, of the Wicked.
QUICK THOUGHTS AND REVIEW: 5/5, DAMN WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS THAT!?
PROS:
1. Plot: Holy fuck. Like I guess this is my default reaction now when it comes to this book. Like for real, I was just poof blown away. Please. Italy? Check. Dark Fantasy? Check. Bookworm female lead who likes romances with a badass twin sister? Also check. Like goddamn, I was so into the book just, mwah. I took Vittoria's death to the heart, mind you.
2. Characterization: WRATH CAN STEP ON ME AND I'LL WILLINGLY OBLIGE. Like, mate, manz just is the word "morally grey hot man" converted into flesh and blood. And then, him caring for Emilia is so hot. ESPECIALLY after he said he won't care for her. Like goddamn bro? You care for the girl and are so much in denial? SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESH. And Emilia, pls, her development, just, going from shy to badass. AND her snark, for real tho, kinda confused as to whether I want Wrath or Emilia.
3. Settings: Italy, that should make up for itself. I mean, it's the first time I've seen one and to be honest, really impressed. And the food kinda made me hungry. You're not allowed to do that to me yo. NO.
4. Tension: Please, I could cut it with my knife, it was so goddamn thicc. I mean, it seriously felt like Emilia and Wrath were stretching their tension to the limit. SO goddamn tight.
5. Plot twists: At this point, I'm just gonna be like, I can't sense plot twists or am really bad at it. Because I swear to God, I kinda expected Antonio to be Vittoria's murderer but actually didn't expect Emilia to be offered the bargain of being Pride's wife.
CONS:
Nope, none whatsoever.
OVERALL, A TERRIFIC READ. I WAS GLAD I HAD THE SECOND BOOK IN HAND TOO.
For real though, I really wanted to scream. WHAT GAVE YOU THE RIGHT TO EMOTIONALLY SCAR ME LIKE THAT? I mean, okay, I get it, gonna hurt the readers but this is pureass scarring. PUREASS SCARRING YOU HEAR ME?
After agreeing to Pride's proposal of being his intended, Emilia arrives in Hell with Wrath, someone who she had once believed was her friend. But Hell is not like the mortal world. Through dances and wicked princes and backstabbing sisters, Emilia has to keep her calm as she tries to figure out which House of hell was responsible for Vittoria's death.
QUICK THOUGHTS AND REVIEW: 5/5. BANGER. A fricking banger.
PROS:
1. Plot: I used a larger font because I can and I will and I will fight God if he himself comes to stop me from doing so. Anygays, yeah plot. Okay, if I said book one was a banger, I swear, this book takes the cake when it comes to plot. It's like infinity times better than the first book and to be honest, I was kinda really hooked into it. Considering it's a royal house. And who doesn't love scandalous royals? (If you don't, you're a freaking heathen)
2. Setting: It's seriously in Hell. I'm sold man I'm sold. Take my (non existent) credit card and just buy everything this book had to offer. For real man, I'm sold.
3. Characterization: Look at them.
4. Plot twists: I DID NOT SEE THEM COMING. First Wrath being Emilia's intended instead of Pride and then Wrath actually being the king of hell. Fuck mate, that's, that's so so so hot, burning in inferno hot. And then Emilia being the first witch. PLS, the second book is infinitely better than the first one.
CONS:
BITCH YOU THOUGHT? HAH!
